It's go time!

I started my marathon training again last week. I am shocked at how quickly I got out of the habit of training (and out of shape). I decided it was time to get my butt back in gear when I got winded going up three flights of stairs.

Right now I am registered to run the Ogden Marathon on May 16th, but I am thinking of running the Rock n Roll San Diego marathon on May 31st as well... and maybe the Avenue of the Giants half marathon on May 3rd because I've always wanted to visit the Redwoods and to run a race through them would be epic.

I have been invited to join Team in Training. It's part of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and basically as a runner you fund raise and run for an honored patient. Mike's aunt Kathy (who Kate is named after) died of Leukemia when she was a teenager, and I am sure we all know someone who has a similar story, unfortunately. Anyway, I was impressed by this organization and I am going to a meeting to learn more on the 31st.

Anyway, the purpose of this post was to let you know that you can keep up with my training now at www.dailymile.com/people/lydiametcalf instead of on my running blog.

Thanks for all your support!

Nice, Lydia! That's alot of marathons in a short amount of time. More power to you! you must be made of steel. Good luck on your training. I'm totally inspired by you.

Way to go! I gave up running a while ago (stupid shin splints) but am inspired to go forward with my other exercising (which includes chasing after small chidren at work...). On a different note, I love your posts about Twilight. Many of my middle school students are so obsessed...when I told them about Midnight Sun yesterday they were beyond excited!! Ha! It's fun to talk with them about it!

The Avenue of the Giants sounds UNBELIEVABLE!! I had no idea such a race existed - I want to come! You are amazing Lydia - I'm excited to hear how your training goes - I'm hoping it'll inspire me for post-baby work-outs!:)

Sweet! Glad to see you are blogging and running again! You inspire me to go run.

So... what does that mean? I have to go check a DIFFERENT place now to keep up with your running progress? My assumption is that you will then abandon this blog completely. True or false?

(the tears are welling up in my eyes now.)

Natalie... I sense some concern, what with the tears and all. No, you won't have to go anywhere else to keep up with me. I put the dailymile widget in my side bar so you can see what's up. And dailymile was to replace my old running blog, seelydiarun. Remember that one?

I have aspirations to blog about more than just running on this blog. Whether or not those will come to fruition is another matter entirely.

Wow, way to go. The redwoods are beautiful and what a great run that will be.

Good luck with all of those races, you are a champ and yes, made of STEEL.

Lydia, what a great thing - the running and the Team in Training! I'm touched that you would think about Kathy and possibly run in her honor. Best wishes on all the marathons!
